Announcement: The workshop/exhibition 'Die Politischen kinderkrippe' at Kunsthalle Luzern, CH is postponed until January 2012:

Die Poltischen Kinderkrippe
We want to install a daycare in the Luzern kunsthalle based on the painting Die Kinderkrippe II of Albert Anker. The setting will be designed so that it resembles the interior depicted in the painting. The installation becomes a three-dimensional painting. We will use the daycare setting as a place where we organise a workshop for children from Luzern between 6 – 10 years old.

The Swiss painter Albert Anker has been called the "national painter" of Switzerland because of his popular depictions of 19th-century village life. For many people the artworks of Anker represent the true Swiss cultural identity. In current times the oeuvre of Albert Anker is often interpretated within this perspective, especially because Christoph Blocher, a populist politician, collects his artworks. Our aim is to research till what extent the current reading of Anker's oeuvre is detached from its original meaning.  The project Die Kinderkrippe II tries to reposition Anker’s work in a different political context emphasizing his humanistic ideolog
